Ask it anything about what you have eaten.

GK Health is a food diary you can talk to both ways. As well as logging your meals, it answers questions in plain English: how much protein you have left today, how the week went, whether a snack fits your targets, or what a vitamin actually does. The answers come from your own diary, your targets and your Apple Health readings.

An example

How much protein have I got left today?

You have had 64 g of your 120 g so far, so about 56 g to go. Your usual chicken salad at lunch would cover most of it.

What's good for fibre at breakfast?

Porridge oats with berries is a strong start, about 7 g. Your usual porridge with blueberries has been giving you around a quarter of your 30 g target.

The kind of thing people ask

Where the answers come from

From your own diary and catalogue, the targets you set, and the Apple Health readings you allow it to see. Vitamins and minerals are shown against UK daily intake, with a plain-English line on what each one does for you. When you send a message or a photo, it is answered by Google's Gemini API on the paid tier, which Google does not use to train its models. Nothing is sent until you send something.

What it will not do

Logging comes first, of course. How photo logging works, and how to fix one thing without starting again.

Questions

What can I ask it?

Anything reasonable about your food and health: what you have eaten, your calories and macros, your targets, fasting, weight, sleep and exercise from Apple Health, recipes, labels, eating out, and what a nutrient does. It answers from your own diary.

Can it give medical advice?

No. It does not diagnose, prescribe or advise on medication. For anything beyond everyday nutrition it suggests a GP or a registered dietitian.

Does it use my Apple Health data?

Yes, if you allow it. It reads your weight, active energy, heart rate, resting heart rate, sleep and workouts, so it can answer how your whole day went, not just what you ate.

Can anyone else see my diary?

No. The chat only sees your own diary and catalogue, and nobody else can see yours. There are no ads in the app, and your data is never sold.

GK Health is in development and not on the App Store yet.

It is a native app for iPhone and iPad (iOS 17 or later). Join the waitlist and we will email you when it is ready to download.
